Johan Strauss joue comme premier violon dans un orchestre viennois, dirigé par le compositeur lanner. Mais Strauss compose lui-même et Lanner est jalous. Strauss fonde son propre orchestre et la ville se sépare en deux camps. Après une petite guerre plein de rebondissements, les deux maîtres se réconcilient.[1]
