Jack, avocat lodonien très pris par son métier, s’apprête à voir sa vie bouleversée par la naissance de son premier enfant. Mais, sa femme meurt en couches. Jack se retrouve seul avec son chagrin et la charge, bien lourde pour lui, d’élever la petite Sarah. Le quotidien se transforme vite en cauchemar pourtant, Jack découvre les joies de la paternité.
