Sadie admire depuis toujours sa sœur aînée Georgia, qui a su concilier une vie de famille équilibrée et une brillante carrière de chanteuse. Alors que Georgia va de succès en succès, Sadie, généreuse et paumée, chante dans des groupes obscurs, se « cherche » dans l’alcool et la drogue, et fait de chaun de ses numéros un déchirant aveu d’échec. Après bien des tribulations, une confrontation orageuse entre les deux sœurs permettra à Sadie de s’affranchir de Georgia et de s’accomplir.[1]
